Start with a quiet base
Choose greenery with a shape and colour that suit the room. Let the branches spread before deciding how much decoration to add. A simple unlit garland can be a useful base for natural wood and ribbon without needing lots of competing textures.
Repeat one or two details
Try small wooden decorations at intervals and repeat a ribbon colour already used on the tree. Red makes a traditional accent, green sits quietly among foliage and grey gives a softer neutral finish. Leave some greenery visible so the shape does not disappear beneath ornaments.
Keep attachment practical
Use the decoration’s intended hanging point and a suitable attachment method, without puncturing or stressing any lighting cables. Consider the extra weight when checking fixings. Small pieces and loose ties should be positioned thoughtfully in homes with young children or pets.
Make it personal
West Lancashire Creations is our own handmade decoration shop. Its alphabet decorations can add a family initial, while seasonal designs bring a more traditional detail. Check the individual item’s dimensions before planning the spacing. These are optional finishing pieces; retailer garlands are sold separately.
